📈 Markets Flip Green Overnight Ahead of NVDA Earnings
A lot can change overnight.
Yesterday, the proverbial skies were falling as interest rates hit new highs and macro analysts said we’re in for some pain.
And yet, markets rebounded overnight. Bitcoin is back above $77,400, ETH at $2,128, and SOL at $84, all green in the past 24 hours as oil pulled back sharply. WTI fell 2.1% to $101.72 and Brent dropped 2.2% to $104.30, the first meaningful oil decline in a week and a direct catalyst for the risk-on move. Stock futures are green as well.
The standout is HYPE, now up 5% on the day to $49.80 and +27% over the past seven days as Hyperliquid’s volume records and the Coinbase/USDC partnership announcement continued to compound.
Now all eyes turn to this afternoon’s Nvidia earnings. BTC has moved 6-10% around prior NVDA earnings. A strong beat and guidance raise would validate the AI infrastructure trade and likely carry crypto higher. A miss or soft China export guidance would test the overnight green.
No pressure, Jensen Huang…
🚩 Another $76M Crypto Exploit, This Time on Monad
Echo Protocol, a Bitcoin-focused DeFi platform, suffered an admin key compromise on its Monad blockchain deployment Tuesday that briefly looked like a $76 million disaster. Luckily, it wasn’t.
The actual realized loss came to approximately $816,000, roughly 1% of the headline figure, because the team regained control of the compromised keys and burned the attacker’s remaining tokens before they could be converted.
Here’s what happened. An attacker gained access to Echo’s admin key and granted themselves admin roles on the eBTC contract, then minted 1,000 eBTC worth approximately $76.7 million. They deposited 45 of those eBTC as collateral on Curvance, borrowed 11.29 WBTC (~$867K), bridged it to Ethereum, swapped to ETH, and routed roughly 385 ETH through Tornado Cash. The remaining 955 eBTC, worth ~$73 million, sat in the attacker’s wallet unused. Monad’s DeFi liquidity depth couldn’t absorb a sell of that size, which bought time. Echo’s team used it: they regained admin control, burned the 955 eBTC, and shut down cross-chain functionality on the Monad deployment.
Monad co-founder Keone Hon confirmed the network itself was unaffected.
💰 Polymarket Just Opened a $5T Market to Retail Traders
Polymarket launched private company prediction markets on Tuesday in partnership with Nasdaq, letting retail traders bet on startup milestones that have historically been accessible only to Wall Street insiders and institutional investors.
Initial markets include OpenAI’s next funding round valuation, SpaceX’s IPO date, Anthropic’s revenue milestones, and Stripe’s path to profitability. The contracts use the same binary outcome structure as Polymarket’s political and sports markets, with simple yes/no resolution on verifiable events.
This announcement comes as SpaceX’s S-1 is expected this week ahead of a June 12 Nasdaq listing, OpenAI is expected to IPO later in 2026 and Anthropic is raising at a $900B+ valuation. All three are among the most speculated-on companies in the world, and now, retail investors have new ways to participate.
🤖 Google Just Launched Its Answer to Claude and ChatGPT Agents
Google used its Google I/O 2026 keynote Tuesday to launch Gemini Spark, a 24/7 personal AI agent that runs in the cloud and keeps working even when you close your phone or laptop.
Unlike a standard chatbot, Spark takes actions autonomously: it monitors your Gmail for deadlines, parses your credit card statements for hidden fees, books reservations, tracks RSVPs, and handles complex multi-step tasks across Workspace, Canva, OpenTable, and Instacart. It’s an actual AI agent (like Clawdbot), but with an easier UI.
Spark is rolling out to trusted testers this week and enters US beta for AI Ultra subscribers ($100/month) next week.
Google also announced Gemini 3.5 Flash, Gemini Omni for video generation, Samsung Intelligent Eyewear with Gemini integration, and a Universal Cart feature—making Google I/O 2026 the densest AI product announcement day of the year. They are clearly a force to be reckoned with in the AI era.
🙈 Two Americans Were Arrested in Japan for Breaking Into a Monkey Enclosure to Promote a Meme Coin
Two American men were arrested by Japanese police Tuesday after entering the enclosure of Punch, the viral Japanese macaque monkey who became an internet sensation in late 2025, at Chiba City Zoological Park, reportedly to film promotional content for a Solana meme coin called $PUNCH.
The men trespassed past multiple barriers, entered Punch’s habitat, and attempted to film themselves next to the monkey before zoo staff intervened and police were called. Punch was unharmed. The men face charges under Japan’s trespassing laws.
$PUNCH, a Solana-based meme coin launched around the viral monkey’s fame, spiked briefly on the news before giving back most of its gains.
A lesson here for us all—if you ever find yourself entering a monkey enclosure for a memecoin stunt—stop. You’re doing too much. Do less.
