Eos wins defense contract for Golden Dome program

Eos announced a strategic partnership with the Department of War to support the Golden Dome for America initiative. The company received a contract to integrate mission-ready long-duration energy storage into national defense infrastructure. The agreement positions Eos within a major federal defense program focused on resilient power systems.

President Donald Trump highlighted the award during Senator Dave McCormick’s Defense and National Security Summit in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. He said Eos secured a multi-million-dollar partnership to build energy storage technology supporting the Golden Dome missile defense project. Therefore, the announcement brought national attention to the company’s expanding defense business.

The initial phase includes deploying Eos’ Z3 zinc-based long-duration energy storage system at a critical installation. The prototype will demonstrate reliable backup power for defense operations and mission readiness. Moreover, the program allows future expansion as defense infrastructure requirements continue growing.

American-made battery technology supports critical infrastructure

Eos stated that its Z3 platform uses non-flammable aqueous zinc chemistry designed for long-duration energy storage. The company also reported that the system contains approximately 91% domestic content and relies on a predominantly U.S.-based supply chain. The platform meets Section 842 NDAA and FEOC compliance requirements for secure sourcing.

Chief Executive Officer Joe Mastrangelo said the award reflects the company’s long-term investment in American technology, manufacturing, and supply chains. He added that Eos has demonstrated its ability to manufacture advanced energy storage technology at scale. Chief Administration Officer Michelle Buczkowski said the company spent the past year meeting compliance and technical standards required for defense projects.

Reliable electricity has become increasingly important for military facilities and other critical infrastructure across the United States. Long-duration energy storage provides backup power during outages while supporting uninterrupted operations for essential missions. Hence, the selection of a commercially available domestic technology reflects growing government interest in resilient energy systems.

Manufacturing expansion supports future production growth

Senator Dave McCormick said American technology should support the Golden Dome program and strengthen military power infrastructure. He also said the project would create manufacturing jobs in Pennsylvania while supporting domestic industrial growth. The partnership combines national security objectives with regional economic development.

Eos continues expanding production through its Thorn Hill manufacturing facility near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The company confirmed that its second battery production line has entered commercial operation. Moreover, the site increases the Z3 platform’s automated manufacturing capacity while supporting future production growth.

The company plans to increase annual manufacturing capacity in Allegheny County to 8 gigawatt-hours. Eos also expects the expansion to strengthen domestic supply chains and support American energy independence. Additionally, the company aims to create 1,000 jobs as production capacity continues expanding alongside future defense and commercial demand.
