Chevron Stock Gains After Earnings Surge

Chevron earned $6.11 per diluted share, compared with $1.45 one year earlier. Adjusted earnings reached $12.0 billion, while adjusted earnings per share rose to $6.06. The quarter included a $230 million asset sale gain and $86 million in pension costs.

Cash flow from operations climbed to $22.6 billion from $8.6 billion one year earlier. Meanwhile, free cash flow increased to $18.1 billion as operations and working capital improved. Chevron reduced total debt by a record $8.4 billion, strengthening its balance sheet.

The board declared a quarterly dividend of $1.78 per share, payable September 10, 2026. Chevron will pay shareholders on its August 19, 2026, record date. The payout maintained Chevron’s focus on capital returns, disciplined spending, and debt reduction.

Hess Assets Lift Production and Cash Flow

Chevron produced 4.07 million oil-equivalent barrels daily, up 20% from the prior-year quarter. Legacy Hess assets drove growth, alongside expansion in the Permian Basin and Gulf of America. Domestic production reached a quarterly record of 2.08 million oil-equivalent barrels per day.

Upstream earnings rose to $8.18 billion from $2.73 billion one year earlier. Higher liquids prices, sales volumes, and reliable operations strongly supported domestic and international gains. However, conflict-related curtailments affected output between Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.

Chevron achieved $1.5 billion in Hess synergies within one year of closing the acquisition. The result exceeded its initial target by 50% and arrived ahead of schedule. Moreover, annual structural cost reductions reached $3 billion, meeting the target six months early.

Microsoft Power Deal Expands Growth Pipeline

Chevron signed a 20-year agreement to supply 2.67 gigawatts for Microsoft’s West Texas data center. The planned facility will provide dedicated electricity and create a new source of contracted cash flow. The project extends Chevron’s capabilities into large-scale power infrastructure for digital operations.

Beyond the power agreement, Chevron advanced potential oil projects in Iraq through government agreements. The discussions cover West Qurna 2, Nasiriyah, and an export pipeline in a hydrocarbon basin. Chevron also continued reshaping its downstream portfolio through Asia-Pacific asset sales.

Second-quarter capital spending reached $4.5 billion, partly reflecting former Hess operations. Chevron recorded refinery throughput of 1.07 million barrels daily, with utilization above 97%. Strong earnings, lower debt, and contracted power demand strongly supported the pre-market advance.
