From Mini-Comic to Full Story: The Origin of Farm Fights
In October 2025, Jim Rugg hand-created a mini-comic called Farm Fights! Only 1,000 copies were ever made, all given away exclusively at New York Comic Con 2025. The mini-comic served as a prequel to the full story now arriving in Comic Book #13.
For anyone who missed NYCC, the Farm Fights! mini-comic has been reprinted inside Comic Book #13.
Farm Fights is the first VeeFriends project Jim Rugg worked on before officially joining the team, which makes this comic uniquely personal. He conceptualized it, wrote it, drew it, and created four of its sketch covers.
309 limited-edition copies were distributed at ComicsPRO in February 2026, some of which were signed by Jim Rugg.

Cover A: Jim Rugg
Jim Rugg illustrates Cover A (pictured above), his third VeeFriends comic book cover, following Cover B of Comic Book #8: Gary Bee and Cover B of Comic Book #11: Adventurous Astronaut.
Known for his bold, cult-beloved work on Street Angel and his reinterpretation of Marvel’s Hulk: Grand Design, Rugg joined VeeFriends as Creative Producer and has become one of the defining creative voices of the comic book series.
Cover A carries special meaning: Farm Fights was the very first VeeFriends project Jim Rugg worked on. He conceived it, wrote it, drew every page of it, and now illustrates its Cover A. This makes this issue a true singular authorship in the VeeFriends catalog. His four sketch covers in this issue are among the most personally significant chase variants in the series.
Cover B: Bill Sienkiewicz
Bill Sienkiewicz is an Eisner Award winner, Emmy nominee, and one of the most influential comic book artists of the past four decades. He brings his iconic style to VeeFriends Comic Book #13 with Cover B (pictured above).
Sienkiewicz transformed the visual language of American comics beginning in the 1980s with landmark runs on New Mutants, Elektra: Assassin, and the critically acclaimed Stray Toasters. His approach, blending classical painting, abstraction, and mixed-media collage, was unlike anything seen in mainstream comics at the time and remains singular to this day.
His work has been exhibited globally and appeared across advertising, film posters, and major publications. The cover Bill Sienkiewicz has created for Farm Fights brings that same expressive, award-winning vision to the VeeFriends universe. His Cover B makes this a prestigious artist collaboration.
