In-App Trading
Partners Banka has launched direct bitcoin trading in its mobile app, making it the first domestic commercial bank in the Czech Republic to offer clients seamlessly integrated cryptocurrency transactions. According to a local report, the new feature lets clients open a crypto account within minutes and start buying or selling bitcoin with as little as $23 (500 Czech korunas).
“Bitcoin interests a large part of the Czech public today, but for many people the path to buying it remains needlessly complicated,” said Petr Borkovec, CEO of Partners Banka and co-founder of the Partners financial group. “Removing these unnecessary technological barriers gives clients better control over how much they buy, fitting into our long-term strategy of creating a single space for a client’s entire financial life.”
Through its partnership with Anycoin, which provides infrastructure licensed under the European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation, Partners Banka allows clients to trade bitcoin directly within its app with no maintenance or custody fees. The app supports single transactions of up to $68,700, subject to a total 2% markup, split into 1.5% for the bank and 0.5% for Anycoin, though coins cannot be transferred to external wallets.
Regulatory Alignment and Risk Management
The integration removes conventional barriers to entry for everyday retail investors. Users do not need to download third-party applications, set up accounts on foreign crypto exchanges, or manage complex seed phrases and recovery passwords. Instead, transactions are selected in-app and debited directly from the user’s primary bank account.
To power the backend, Partners Banka partnered with Anycoin, which earlier this year secured a license from the Czech National Bank under the MiCA framework.
Borkovec previously noted on the “Money Maker” podcast that the regulatory clarity established by MiCA was a prerequisite for bringing cryptocurrency services into a fully regulated banking system. Despite pioneering the service locally, Borkovec urged caution among retail users, emphasizing that bitcoin should remain a small component of a broader investment strategy.
Partners Banka said it is not currently planning to add other cryptocurrencies to the platform.
