Driven Dragon Soars To Her Potential In VeeFriends Comic Book #15 — Story, Characters, Cover Art & Where to Buy
A New Underdog Duo Takes Flight
VeeFriends Comic Book #15 introduces Driven Dragon in her first-ever comic book appearance and story, as she tags alongside a small-but-mighty mouse named Windy to beat their odds of conquering the competitive sport of dragon racing.
At first glance, Comic Book #15 is a classic underdog setup. Driven Dragon and Windy are too small to compete in competitive dragon racing by themselves, until they team up to prove that grit and heart can beat raw talent. Getting to the top takes drive. But staying there? That is a secret only the best will ever know.
Written and illustrated by Katelyn Windels (aka KateKomics), VeeFriends Comic Book #15 continues VeeFriends’ anthology run of character-first stories that blend fun, momentum, and meaning. This issue launches on Wednesday, April 8th at 12pm ET on the VeeFriends online shop, alongside a live drop at 4pm ET on Whatnot hosted by GaryVee.

Driven Dragon Makes First Comic Book Appearance

Driven Dragon has become one of the most popular VeeFriends characters to collect, showing up everywhere from pins, Super Stickers, and even a rare “555” limited T-shirt. Until now, fans knew the drive of the character, but not the story behind it.
Driven Dragon’s story was born during the August 2025 VeeFriends Comics Offsite. The goal was to create a story that could resonate with fantasy and dragon fans, D&D players, young adult readers, collectors, and longtime VeeFriends fans, while still feeling different from any other dragon story out there.
Driven Dragon enters the VeeFriends Comics world in a story that centers on perseverance, ambition, and the power of unlikely partnership. Paired with the fearless mouse Windy, Comic Book #15 explores what happens when two characters who may be overlooked on their own discover what they can unlock together.
Fun fact: Driven Dragon was first mentioned by name at the very end of VeeFriends Issue #4, available to read for free at veefriends.com/comics.
A Dragon With A Different Kind Of Fire In Its Belly

On the surface, Comic Book #15 is an action-packed story about two underestimated competitors proving they belong. However, the comic speaks to how raw talent can open doors, but it does not guarantee staying power.
Grit Beats Raw Talent
Driven Dragon and Windy are not built to win because of their size. Their advantage comes from determination, effort, and the ability to keep showing up. The story makes the case that talent matters, but grit is what closes the gap.
Partnership Creates Strength
When Driven Dragon and Windy come together, they unlock something bigger than individual ability. Comic Book #15 highlights how shared belief and trust can turn underdogs into real contenders.
Staying At The Top Takes More Than Drive
Climbing is one thing. Remaining great is another. Comic Book #15 suggests that the best are not just defined by how hard they work to get there, but by what they learn once they arrive.
Cover Art: Katelyn Windels & Mike Mayhew
Cover A: Katelyn Windels

Cover A is illustrated by Katelyn Windels aka KateKomics (pictured on the right), who also wrote and illustrated the full story for Comic Book #15. This marks her second time both writing and illustrating a complete issue, following her work on Kind Warrior.
With this release, Kate delivers her fifth VeeFriends comic cover, adding to her standout contributions on Hunt for Harpik, VEE for Viking, Notorious Ninja, and Kind Warrior, as well as her work on the 2025 Topps VeeFriends Chrome Sketch Cards. Cover A continues to solidify Kate’s place as one of the most reliable and defining visual voices behind VeeFriends comics.
Cover B: Mike Mayhew

Cover B is illustrated by Mike Mayhew (pictured on the right), one of the most sought-after cover artists in comics today. Mayhew is known for his striking photo-realism and cinematic intensity. His work has defined covers for major titles at Marvel and DC, including Avengers, Justice League, X-Men, Star Wars, Guardians of the Galaxy, Elektra, and She-Hulk. Mike’s art doesn’t just catch your eye. It becomes collectible. His adaptation of George Lucas’ original 1974 draft of The Star Wars became a #1 New York Times Bestseller, and his variant covers continue to be among the most prized in modern comics. He’s now added Cover B of VeeFriends Comic Book #15 to his stellar body of work.
Rare Variants & Comic Collector Pack Breakdown

Comic Book #15 comes sealed in a Comic Collector’s Pack, turning each blind bag into a surprise pull. GaryVee’s 1/1 Sketch Cover and the 1/1 Lollipop edition remain some of the collection’s biggest chases.

As both writer and illustrator of Driven Dragon, Katelyn Windels brings added significance to her four sketch covers. Each piece reflects her complete authorship of the story, making them uniquely personal, and highly collectible, expressions of her creative vision.
